Frequently-anticipated questions:

What does this data set describe?

Title: Base Flood Elevations - DFIRM
Abstract:
This dataset contains line features that represent base flood elevations derived from flood insurance studies used for the flood insurance rate maps (FIRM) by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). A base flood elevation (BFE) is the height of the base flood, usually in feet, in relation to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, the North American Vertical Datum of 1988, or other datum referenced in the Flood Insurance Study report, or average depth of the base flood, usually in feet, above the ground surface.
Supplemental_Information:
This dataset is modified by appending new elevation data resulting from new flood insurance studies required for Letter of Map Revisions (LOMR).
